Doubt anyone here can help...

This is probably something only going to be able to be fixed by logitech.

I have a crappy web cam here in Afghanistan, my wife just bought a Logitech 5k. Mine works no problem. Hers, no matter where she tries to use or test it, shows only a black screen.

I can hear her microphone (built into the cam) but cant see a damn thing. Just a black screen.

Any suggestions, besides the usual reinstall the drivers/software type thing?

if by that, you mean does it show up on my screen here and just not on hers in the States - no, we both only see black.

 

I take it that means she has tried it on other computers. If not, does she know anyone who can test it on theirs?

 

It sounds stupid, I know, but is there a lens cap or lens protector on the camera?

 

what program are you trying to use? maybe try the AIM video camera thing or something similar. when i was using my eyetoy as a webcam i could see myself by using some built-in Windows program but when i tried to use it with other people on AIM i got nothing.

 

It could be a lense cap, and/or she needs to turn more lights on. She can also go into settings, and turn the brightness up on the cam.

 

Ok, she went out and bought a new camera. The same tthing. It works perfect in her preview but shows up black when she broadcasts. We have tried AIM, MSN, Yahoo, SKype and a few other programs.
