Did you update the graphics card drivers through the Tosh website? Or ATI's? Sometimes going to the manufacturers website (ATI) can solve a lot of problems as it's always the latest version.

My only other suggestion is to completely reformat the computer, and try again. Although this wont be an option if you have information that you need to keep on the laptop.

    Also, go here: http://snipurl.com/tb5s7

if you type in the serial number then it should automatically supply you with the correct drivers, just to make sure!

Let me know how you get on dude

Well i updated through ati's site but i can only find 62 bit so im guessing that why it wont work?

Also i typed my serial number into the toshiba site and it just keeps giving me the loading symbol forever maybe someone else could try it an let me know which ones show up? serial: 79304946q

    Serial number says it's invalid.

It should look like this: http://snipurl.com/serialnum

I think you're just missing a letter at the front

I don't care much for Toshibas US or UK website, but here is the link for Toshiba driver database (although it sounds like you've already been there!) http://snipurl.com/toshdrivers

Make sure to select 'Windows Vista' instead of 'Windows Vista 64'

Here is the link for the latest 32 bit driver for your card (I would download the full suite 50MB): http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=vista32/common-vista32

Unless anyone else can give some input, I'm unsure of what to do next. I don't think anyproblems can arise from dropping from 64it to 32bit, apart from failing to recognise over 3GB memory on 32bit.

Let me know how you get on

    Grrrr I dont get it!

When you go into My Computer, does it show what looks like a second hard drive labelled RECOVERY or something?

Because i've just found this from another forum, and it might work:

To access the Toshiba recovery partition, power off the laptop. Hold down the 0 (zero) key and turn the laptop on. Keep holding down the zero key until the TOSHIBA logo appears, where you should start tapping the zero key repeatedly. Stop if the unit beeps or when the TOSHIBA logo disappears. The screen should flash ** HDD RECOVERY MODE ** for a split second, then load the Toshiba recovery program right from the hard drive.

Note that this erases all data, and reloads all factory default software. Be sure to back up all your important personal data beforehand!

    It might work . . . hopefully!

Well no such luck, im going to give it another clean install tomorrow when i get off work. Is there anything i should know when installing the drivers? as in for the whole computer any step by step process, do any of them have to be done in safe mode ect ?

Thanks alot for the help thus far

    ******** new update *******

so out of bordom i decided to see what this intel sw chipset was they also had for vista 32 drivers for my comp i installed it every other yellow ! on my device manager went away, now my standard VGA is still yellow but it says code 38 now instead of code 10!

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)

i looked it up and all it said was just to restart your comp so im going to do just that and see what happends lol!

Not really. If I'm doing a clean install, I like to format the target drive first (you can do this during the Vista CD steps)

Otherwise, once it's finished, i like to install crucial drivers first (ie. Video/sound/Wireless etc) Dont rush, install a driver then restart, then install the next. It's a complete pain in the arse, but totally worth it in the end and can pay dividends. If you end up downloading 100's of drivers, name each one for their purpose. Again, it can pay dividends even if it does take bloody ages!

Then move onto non-crucial drivers like media-card reader, shortcut buttons and so on.

Bear in mind you are now installing drivers for 32bit Windows, so if the drivers dont specifically mention 32bit, dont install them. This will probably negate 20% of the drivers on the Toshiba support page. If the Tosh website doesnt offer 32bit, then try the part manufacturers website. If you still cant find them just give us a nod on this thread and i'll be happy to try and find them for you.

Good luck with computer :), and good luck over in that horribly dangerous country :(

ah dang it got my hopes up still saying code 10 now :(, well speaking of renaming drivers.... my desktop is now FULL of them so im going to just re-download the ones i know are what they are. like this new chipset driver seems to be the one that works out of the two toshiba offers for this comp *btw toshiba has a horrible support site lol

Yeah this country is safe this time around, afghan is where i dont wanna be right now. thats next tour though :/

Try re-installing the 32bit video suite again, it might just need another kick up the bum to get it right
