It's for a computer that we use at work. We have Dos systems and Windows as well.
Totally antiquated but they work most of the time. Owners won't upgrade until hell freezes over.

Plus 98 is faster in several area's than XP, and it's easier to find things.

Don't mean to shoot down anyone's opinions, but...you will probably find that if you have the adequate memory, XP is fast!! And just like any new programs...if you use it long enough and learn about...you will get used to it and see that it is an improvement!!!!

Then again...some people just don't like change!!!!

I can't think of one thing 98 is faster at...booting maybe? Shutting down? Crashing?

That would be it, and for a business, irrelevant( aguable, you'd think they don't want crashing). I'd guess the net admin doesn't know how to administer anything else. I worked for an ISP that was like that. Forced us to use Windows 95a (yes A), when Windows 98se was out. Windows 2000 came out and we were STILL using Windows 95a.

The Net Admin's job was to re-image machines while flirting with the girls on the floor. Thats it.

No it doesn't work in safe mode either. I can't seem to find the right set of drivers as the ASUS web site does not list this motherboard ...P4GV-LA. I believe it's a Socket 478 so I'll take a chance and try the applicable driver for that one.(Stooch crosses fingers!)

I d/l a file from ASUS caledd ALC655.exe and it had the right drivers for WIN98.
Your kind assistance was much appreciated.

XP allows you to switch your desktop to look like the older version of windows. I to thought the XP sucked too much wind but as I became familiar with the new look I am sure the slow mo was not xp but the user.

besides windows 98 always had a nasty habbit of crashing (Blue screen of death),LOL. :D
