I Have an OKI EAA-89 notebook with Spanish home Vista on it. I understand I cannot convert this to English and have tried to load XP. This comes up with setup did not find any hard drives installed on the computer and I believe that I need the driver to make XP use the drive. I cannot find any PC drivers on the OKI site and am unsure what to do if I get a driver.

If you are doing a clean install, with an authentic Windows disc, Windows will load the drivers it needs to do this. Just insert the disc and restart your PC. As it starts (before loading Windows), enter your BIOS setup, choose to boot first from your CD/DVD drives, save the new configuration and exit. Windows will take over for the install. Make sure to re-format the HDD when it reaches that point.

PS: You may have problems finding drivers for your PC after downgrading.

It could be that the hard drive is a SATA drive and Windows won't see it without what we call the "F6" driver. But if the drive has Vista on it, and the partition has not been deleted, then it is already formatted, and should be recognized by Windows XP setup. Check the BIOS settings and make sure that the hard drive is set up correctly in the BIOS. If Windows XP won't see the drive you will need to either get a floppy drive (an external USB floppy drive) so you can install the "F6" driver, or you can try removing the hard drive from the laptop and formatting it on another XP computer by hooking it up as a secondary drive. If the Vista PC loads to the Vista desktop OK, without errors or problems, then the hard drive is healthy and installing XP to it shouldn't be a problem.
