Hello, my name is John, new here.

I did a search on Google and here too, but could not find any posts or threads about this topic. Please excuse me if I missed something and am asking a question that has been asked and answered before.

I've noticed lately that when I want to download a software program, (freeware or pay-for) that so many sites are now forcing these download manager programs on us and I often have to try and find a site that just has a good old fashioned direct download link.

Why all the download managers all of a sudden? I understand that some may have useful features etc, which some people may want, but why force these on us if we don't need it. It's a pain to have to use one of these in order to download something you can't find a direct download link for and then go in and uninstall the download manager.

Also; I've read on a couple of sites that these things collect data about you from your system. I don't know if that's true or not.

I've Googled, but haven't found any useful links with articles about this topic. Maybe you all could do one if you haven't already. If you have could you point me to it?

    Thanks, John

I don't have a link for you john, because i stay way from sites that force their garbage on users.I'm pretty sure there are links out there but with all the safe clean sites out there, and of course the One and Only MajorGeeks, there really isn't a need for any of those other guys. So no need to look any further than RIGHT HERE. http://majorgeeks.com/.

    Hi

To be honest if a download needs a download manager then its not a legit download sadly as most software applications do not need a separate download manager to download them at all.

If you can supply a link to the software you are after that gives you this download manager link then we can review it and suggest alternatives.

Anybody know how to get rid of Tiny download Manager?
It is stuck like glue to my computer and I can't get rid of it.
    It installed itself here:
    C:/Users/User/AppData/Local/DM/TinyDM.exe

    Any Ideas?
    Thanks
    Danny

    piardog\Danny,

The only thing I can suggest is to boot up in safe mode and then uninstall the program.

    Welcome to MajorGeeks!

What steps have you already tried for uninstalling it?

PS: It's always best to create your own thread topic if it differs from the original poster's problem.
