I downloaded several files today and felt perhaps a little too sure that your site was safe (I know, I know...) I should have suspected it because the file had a notice that it was no longer freeware, but I figured if it was still here then.... Well, my AVG popped up and yelled at me that I was downloading a Trojan horse, so I stopped the download, quarentined the horse and rebooted. This is the virus name:
    Trojan Horse Citem.2.Al

My question is, can I assume tht my system is safe since AVG caught it, or not?
Second question is, how can I ever feel safe downloading here again?

    Hi

First off sorry this happened but all software is tested here before inclusion into the listings..

Your going to have to let us know the name of the software you were downloading that caused this?

A note: Many older applications and some newer ones sometimes get falsely registered as virii/trojans just depends on what job they are doing as in the case of keyloggers and security programs this can happen due to the nature of the software and is normal... of an older .exe or .dll is registered as being linked to virii.

I have downloaded here for near 5yrs and never gotten anything suspicious on my PC, as I know all applications are tested beforehand, not saying the odd one may not be missed but humans are humans and this site corrects things VERY quickly.

Not a problem, just be careful out there, many so called malware free websites post infected files every day. The link I gave you above, like SiteAdvisor can be helpful, but if you need something for your computer, you can count on us.

Their is your problem, keyloggers are by the nature of what they are in being secretive security applications are generally flagged up by antivirus applciations as trojans as you know trojans gather data, which is what basically keyloggers do also.

Tested and as I expected my AV found a trojan in Win32:Trojan-gen. {VC} this was not a suprise to me as I mentioned keylogger are highlighted as malicious by nature in antivirus applications because of the secretive job they do.
