Download speed just went down the drain...

So the other day I picked up a longer ethernet cable (20ft) si I can move my modem and wireless router further away from other electronics and more central to all the computers. I've been playing Call of Duty 4 on my PS3 (wirelessly) just fine with no lag, and internet surfing has been just as fast as ever. HOWEVER today I tried downloading some stuff and opposed to my usual 150kb/s DL speed, im getting a crappy 30-60kb/s. I dont know if it's just not taking the available bandwidth or something else is messed up. Im thinking it's the former, because when I'm DLing, i can surf the net super fast as if I'm not downloading anything. Before, I would get slower page load times, choppy music streaming etc. while I was downloading stuff. My PS3 downloads @ 150kb/s also, while my computer is now slower. It's really bugging me because what should have taken an hour to DL has taken about 6 and it's not even finished yet. Any ideas?

 

It's possible that the place where you're downloading from may be slowing down. Don't forget that network connections are two way and only work as fast as the slowest side.

If it's a p2p app make sure that your settings are correct.

 

Yeah it turned out to just be that one server I was using, everything else since then has been fine. It was kinda odd though, and sometimes it still runs a bit slower. I was DLing from Fileplanet and I've always gotten almost exactly 150kbps constantly from there
