Downloader.gen.a trojan

Hello. I have a Dell laptop that appears to be eaten up with viruses. It ran fine until Monday, the day that the virus appeared on the computer. I have tried to perform a system restore, but it will not give me options before the infection date. I can no longer open programs such as a web browser. The McAffee program will run about 10 minutes after I click the icon. It finds viruses and eliminates all but the one titled "Downloader.gen.a trojan". Then the others come back.

I have followed the steps in the "READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support" thread, but I was not able to get far. The infection is so strong that the only time I can access anything is in safe mode (I tried to access "add/remove programs" in normal function and it would not open it). I went to the "Uninstall Malware via Add/Remove Programs" thread and I found one item in my add/remove programs function that is called "MyWay Search Assistant". However, I could not remove it because it was in safe mode. Because I am in safe mode I am not able to access the net wirelessly, nor am I able to remove programs. Also in safe mode, I cannot access the "run"option.

I have read various threads pertaining to the problem with my computer however, I have not found anything that could help with this situation. The problem is unique in that programs will not load, the internet cannot be accessed, safe mode does not allow much options, the run feature is disabled, and in safe mode, the Myway Search Assistant cannot be removed.

I fear I am facing a complete factory reset. In fact, I tried to do that but was not able to get much accomplished because of the virus infection. So I thought I might come here and see what you guys thought before I throw this thing in the trash and buy another! Thanks for your consideration.

See if you can download and run ComboFix.

If you can attach the log, also I need as many logs from the below as possible. If you can't get them, try to get a ShowNew, GetRunKey & HijackThis log. If I can't see some logs, there is much I can do.

 

Well... we were unable to download anything since we could not get on the net (the only time we can opena web broswer is in safe mode, and it won't access the web in safe mode). So we are taking it to be repaired... if possible. Thanks for your help.

 

We can fix the machine however you must be patient, willing to read and follow my instructions.
