Downloadig Large files

I am trying to downlod this file. it is very large. I am on dial up. it takes at least 8 hours or more.
I downloaded Leechget hopig to be able to resume the download. Well, I don't know what I am doing wrong, but when I try to resume it ( our power went out due to a storm) it told me download was complete, which it wasn't. then, wouldn't open and didn't have complete download.
Is there a way to break up the download and do smaller parts at a time? Or a different download manager that will resume a broken download?

Thanks for any ideas. I am frustrated. My daughter needs some type of word for her schooling.

It's a popular one. I use it quite a bit myself. I don't know about an 8 hour d/l though. Maybe you could have some one with high speed d/l the file you want and put it on a CD for you. Don't know anything about trying to break up a large d/l. Hopefully someone else with more knowlege will come along shortly.

 

its 94 mb, thats not very good for dial-up users, lol. But TimW's Download Accelerator Plus says it will increase download speeds up to 300%, maybe that will put you in for 5 hours? Lol

My other daughter is in college, so she bought Microsoft Word with grant money and has that on her laptop. My younger daughter thought I could put that on my computer, too, but as I understand it, you can only legally have it on one computer, even in the same household right?

With moving out to the country, it is all I can get, or I would have a faster connection. I would never move back to the city, so I have to accept it until something comes along.

 

You can install the software on multiple pcs, but you need to have different keys. So as long as you can get a different key its no problem really.

 

I would be asking a friend on a broadband service to d/load it for you and burn it to cd.
For that matter, I'd do it for you, it may take a few days or so from Sydney Australia to Minnesota, if it gets there at all. But I'm willing to do it for you if it will help. Just pm me a mailing addy.
Or maybe someone living closer to you in the USA might like to help by doing the same. The MG community is helpful.
I was always burning gaming maps and stuff for friends on dial-up and dropping the cd's in the snail mail to save them having to d/load big files on dial-up.
