Downloading from You Tube

Several years ago, I used RealPlayer, I guess because it was easy for me to push the "download" button.
I have tried some of the other down loaders , and always had trouble with the copy-paste stuff. ( No need to worry- I'll never rise above a "private, or a corporal" on this site!
I tried downloading the latest RealPlayer, cloud, etc, and it never worked.
Some folks don't like it, and recommended using an earlier edition. I downloaded Realplayer 16. It tries to work correctly, but after finishing, it states Download not complete, try again. I'm allowing the download to "finish" and wait several seconds, before clicking anything. I went to the realplayer forum, and was told by the Realplayer tech, to uninstall, and down load the latest , which I tried earlier without success. I don't want to be involved in this cloud stuff.
Can someone here recommend an easy downloader , or how to fix the one I have ? I only use the downloads for myself, as a way to collect old music from the 60's, when I was growing up. Many I downloaded a few years ago are gone, from You Tube and I can't find them, even if I could buy them. I haven't burned anything . I just keep the files. Thanks a lot, folks.

 

I may not be understanding what your want but if you are wanting to download music from videos on YouTube you can download a video converter here on Major Geeks called Freemake from this link http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/freemake_free_audio_converter.html

Then you can convert it to MP3 and play it on on something like VLC Media player which you can also download from Major Geeks.http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/vlc_media_player.html

I really appreciate your nice response. You did answer my questions. Excuse my rambling, as I'm just a crazy old man.
For my last ten years of employment , I worked out in the shop of a large corporation. I thought I would be able to ignore computers, or do without them. That has proven to be wrong . So I'm not very skilled, and probably never will be, as my interests are more mechanical in nature- welding ,woodworking etc. Thanks again.

I've used to use the Yoube downloader and it hiccuped with some regularity. I now use this one which is not affiliated with youtube.
What i like about it is you can select which pixel quality you want.
(just look in the youtube settings and you will see which choices are available) then select from the menu what to download.
