I downloaded an audio file from 4shared and sent it to a contact list.

Everyone on the list was able to download the file and listen to it.

I however, was able to download the file, but unable to listen to it. After the first 11 seconds, it cuts out and a window appears saying that....

windows media player is unable to play the file. The player might not support the file type or might not accept the codec used to compress the file.

I have never had problems listening to these files downloaded from 4share
Also tried in iTunes...with the same results.

thanks for any help you are able to extend my way

    Hi

What is the file extention of the media file?

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?

A CODEC pack may help, but knowing your Windows version will help direct you to the appropriate one.

The fact that the file does play for 11 seconds before you get the error tells me that the file might be corrupted. Is this happening with other files also, or is it just this one file that's the problem?
