Yes he was out of car in about 10 seconds after he got it stopped.What amazed me and I am a big fan(I admin on MA`s car sitehttp://thecargeeks.com/was how many pieces the body went into and how high in the air they went.Here is a you tube link to many explosions and blowovers(where a Top Fuel car flips over backwards)NHRA takes safety very seriously.That is 1 reason why they are only racing to 1000 feet instead of a 1/4 mile,in Funny Cars and Top Fuel dragsters.Car crashes

 

Found this from 1994 when they were ONLY gping 280 mph compared to 330+ when they made them run to only 1000feet after Scott Kalitta got killed.And it wasn`t the speed it was the run out and stopping area that caused his untimely death.RIP Scott

More races this weekend from North Carolina.Those with ESPN2 can watch saturday night at 11pm eastern time and finals are Sunday at 7pm eastern time.Neat track as they can race 4 cars at once and its all concrete.:cool

 

I hate it the way it is now.But for safeties sake I can see NHRA`s point of view.I think that they will get the tracks better equipped to handle the speeds(shutdown areas) and they have already made vast improvements in the cars safety,after Eric Medlen and Scotts deaths.Hopefully soon they will go back to the 1/4 mile.
