    Hi,

I came back to my PC which I'd left on for a couple of hours and found it on the black boot screen with the message:
"Drive 1 not found: Serial ATA, SATA-2"

I tried starting in Safe Mode, Satrting Windows Normally, and Starting at the last known good configuration. These take me back to the original message, but preceeded with "Drive 0 not found".

I can get onto a Setup screen, where settings can be altered, but have no idea what should be done there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would try and reseat the SATA cable first as I've had problems with them coming loose.

    Thanks for replying.

I'm very much a computer novice though. Excuse the stupid question: what is the SATA cable and where is it found? Inside the computer case?

    Thanks.

Yes, inside the case. It is the 4-pin cable that connects the hard drive to the motherboard. If this computer is still under warranty then I'd bring it back.

I opened it up and tried to make the cable as secure as possible, but this didn't change the problem at all.

Is there anything under Setup which might solve the problem or at least identify it? Should I change the setings back to the factory settings? For example, Diskette drive is set to USB rather than Internal, which was the factory setting.
