driver detection tools etc

all these driver websites suck, there full of ads, they all want you to join and i often dont find updated drivers on them when im working on friends computer or people who contact me through craigs list. is there some kind of list of pieces of software for specific manufactures that provide a piece of software for their whole line of products that detects and downloads drivers..

like if i download an asus driver updater tool, it scans my hardware for asus products then its own database for updates, which is the most up to date database for asus products.. you know? there are also detection tools like driver whiz, and im not talking about those, cause i dont like them, i think they suck... maybe its just me, but something is fishy about tools like theirs, also iv used some and it says no updates, but the driver im looking for shows up on the companies website... which i cannot download because their server is screwy.. whats the deal with updating drivers, why is it so retarded?

I have found that if i am searching for a specific driver i tend to Google the particular website for the product i seek.

Asus

and so on.

For removing drivers i use my Device manager before installing the new version,first turning off my Internet or it searches automatically for the new drivers.

 

Most of these Driver Update tools are going to try to sell you something such as a subscription to their service.

Unless you are experiencing a specific problem, you don't need to update drivers at all. This would be different with software where security is involved.

If you feel the need to update any driver, as BILLMCC66 said, go to the manufacturer of the device.

 

when im out working, i almost always go to the site of the manufacturer but i swear theres always something wrong with their site when i "need" them, like the person im working for at the moment has model 3200C13X and the manufacturer site has a lot of 3200C13's+ whatever the last character is, but not the friggen x that the customer i have has... so then i google it and i just get a ton of crap for things i have to sign up for..
why doesnt each manufacturer has one driver tool for all of there hardware line that connects to their DB and the computer to scan all hardware for their products to automatically dl it... ARG!!!
