So my display driver keeps having to be restarted. It ends up not responding for half a second and restarts. I think it's because windows 10 is trying to use the windows 8 drivers. Any idea why upgrading to windows 10 didn't install windows 10 drivers alongside it? Also any idea where I can find all the necessary windows 10 drivers.

    Hi Ichinzen,
If possible post your system model number or Laptop model name.

It's recommended to visit the website of the PC manufacturer to download the latest drivers for your particular system.

If the Windows 10 upgrade did not remove the existing drivers, it will have thought they were compatible. What is the make and model of the display card?

sorry for the late reply, but is IntelR HD Graphics 4600 what you need if not I dunno where to look to find it.

    Hi

Whats the make and model of your PC/Laptop as I have found in upgrading to Windows 10 on older machines, while compatible, the Win10 driver is not the best and I have had to uninstall it and install an older Win7 driver to gain the best resolutions.

Intel HD Graphics 4600 shouldn't have any issues in Windows 10. Something else is causing your problem. What red-x's are listed in Applications or System in the Event logs?

Its possible that a install of the chipset driver for your model PC may help. But the yellow ! or red X in device manager may help narrow the issues down.

Yea no yellow ! or red X's here. This is only an asumption but since the issues happen more often when any kind of of flash is displayed. I think the more intensive the use of flash is displayed the more the issues arise. When I was playing garry's mod which is substantially more graphic intensive than flash, I wasn't seeing the errors. Since whenever this issue arises I get a notification sound and didn't hear it at all while playing gmod perhaps theres more to it. Again all of what I just said is baesd on my own observations, and is merely speculation at this point.

What's the make and model of the system, and what was the exact OS and Service pack installed at the time of the windows 10 upgrade.

I'm not sure where to go to find out what got installed in the upgrade but my computer is an alienware x51R and it was using windows 8.1 at the time of the installation.

Personally, from use, I find 'Driver Talent' (formerly 'Drive The life') far far better than Driver Booster. It has proven to be much more accurate and has a great notice 'If your system is working normally it is not recommended to update drivers'.

Driver Talent seems to think that everything is normal with the driver but I reinstalled anyways to be safe we soon shall see. If not I'll try replace the current driver with it'swindows 10 counterpart.

Driver Talent, like Driver Booster, simply scans your entire system and analyses all the drivers and compares what is on there with what its database shows as current for the hardware concerned. If it doesn't suggest a more up to date driver then issues are maybe not the version of the driver but the installation of it. That's what you seem to be suggesting. A Driver Updater won't solve a corrupt install. That's simply a maintenance issue involving a clean careful uninstall of the current one, restarting the system and installing from a new clean download.

Just to add to this below, after I upgraded an 8.1 system to Win 10 that had the Intel HD Graphics 4600, Windows Update itself offered a new driver that was released in November. I let it update after creating a restore point and the new driver works fine in Windows 10.
If you go to Device Manager > Display Adaptors > HD 4600 > Properties > Driver > Update Driver (choosing the first ONLINE search option) - see what happens.
But make a restore point before you do that though.

Won't work it will say the driver is up to date and not even bother with any apparent online search. I'd have to manually install an alternative in this case. Maybe if there was a program that would allow me to reinstall an older version of the driver then maybe I could do something about it.

My reinstall of the driver didn't help so I'll download the windows 10 version to see if that helps. It may be days before I find out if it worked or not.

It DOES search online if you choose that option and only after that does it say if it thinks you have the latest compatible driver. You must be doing something not right because you need to choose 'Update Driver' first, then choose the Online search and it definitely does search, even if it then comes back to say you have the latest.
And of course you must be online at the time.

The driver for HD4600 on my Win 10 (formerly 8.1) that WINDOWS said could be updated, was to driver 20.19...... etc

Will the 4300 driver work for the 4600? doesn't it need to be specifically for the hardware I need? As it stands you gave me a link for the 4300 unfortunately I am not sure if it's going to work.

    Also I found this https://communities.intel.com/thread/75672?tstart=0

Apparently windows 10 isn't fully compatible with the installed chip. But I don't think that's entirely true. The graphics card was working fine prior to updating the drivers for it. Why the hell wouldn't microsoft make windows 10 compatible with the 4600. That's just like making an xbox 360 that uses hardware that is incompatible with an os or an update. I'm beginning to wonder if windows is right for me anymore because of the company's constant stupidity.

No it doesn't give that online option. I went to the driver and selected update driver but the only option avialable are search automatically for updated driver software, which does both my computer and the internet, and browse my computer option. I can follow specific instructions like that to the letter but somehow perhaps the windows 10 you have and the one I have are inherently different somehow

I decided to take a look at the driver files and found cpa_32.vp and cpa_64.vp is this normal or is this perhaps the problem. There are several other files like this with both 32 or 64 in their name.

Intel states that the drivers are compatible with 4600 HD graphics. Also, that driver package was released at the end of October specifically for Windows 10, so they should work.

If this doesn't work I'll probably have to seek a tech support company a pay out cash to have them fix the issue. Cuz at this point whatever this issue is there really doesn't seem to be any end of it in sight until I get remote assistance.

The latest driver install seems to have fixed theissue hopefully. I have noticed anything out of the ordinary graphically. I think that it may be fixed.
