I'm wondering if, based on the following Everest Report for my system, if there is anything I can do to improve the computer's performance for gaming. I'm not a hardcore gamer and I use my computer for work (financial modelling, structuring deals, etc) so the system is pretty functional for me.

But I do enjoy Team FOrtress 2, CoD2 MW2 and CounterStrike. I find that the Teamfortress and Counterstrike play well, but COD2 plays a bit clippy sometimes. I mean it plays ok but seems clippy.

I've update the drivers to the best of my ability, dowloaded gamefire to optimize the system but still a bit clippy.

Just wondering if there is anything I can do without shelling out additional bucks for a new CPU, motherboard, etc. I mean I'd consider a video card but if I can get by without...

I hope I posted in the correct forum and thank you.

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

    Greetings, Bluesbreaker.

Hardware-wise, the best bang-for-the-buck upgrade is always adding more RAM. Your report shows an Asus P5V-VM motherboard (which supports up to 8gb of DDR2 800), so you could easily double or triple your memory for just a few $. If you decide to do this, I'd suggest Crucial.com to get a handle on what to expect.

Software-wise, just use common sense. Make sure your registry is clean, disable all non-essential programs while gaming, clean and defrag your hard drive, turn off unnecessary services (BlackViper.com is the standard guide), etc.

I'm not a graphics expert, so I'll leave it up to the video gurus to recommend a GPU upgrade, but the above should get you started.

    Good luck!

Hi Caliban - thanks alot for the reply! I'll give that a shot I think as it is the easiest thing I can do.

I've run gamefire as well prior to playing and that helps.

I'll wait for the video gurus for the coupe de grace!
