Drivers, Software, and Just About Everything is Messed up!

My laptop started acting up yesterday. It started after I installed Deus Ex, I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
The first thing I noticed was that my copy of GIMP wouldn't open any file.
I restarted, thinking that might help. Then my audio wouldn't work, all that worked were the legacy "beep" sounds. Then I noticed my modem wouldn't work at all. I checked it out and it says its disconnected, but I'm pretty sure a driver is being stupid.

I'm thinking about just backing up my stuff that I don't have on my last backup and just reinstalling Windows.

If there is a simpler way to fix my problem, please let me know.
