    I took this (*below) from BlackVipers site (which is recommended here) under: "Super Tweaks for Windows XP ...".

    The last instructions I received here (MG's) regarding "Drivers" was basically (if I am recalling it correctly) to; 'leave well-enough alone' (but that could just have been that the repsondent to my post didn't have confidence in my ability to do so - which I understand):
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Number Seven: Drivers!
    This is valid for Windows XP Home and Pro. Download and install ALL updated drivers from the hardware manufacture sites. I cannot tell you what site you need to go to, but do your computer a favor and get updated drivers for everything.
    Reboot again.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Any opinions?

    Thanks,
    g ...

    I am not sure what you are trying to achieve, grc123 but DriverMax 4.6 at http://www.majorgeeks.com/DriverMax_d5260.html will allow you to:-
    or visit Drivers at http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads35.html for specific drivers.

    Bazza :confused :-D

    100% agree with you MarkT, and only drivers worth looking at to update on regualr basis are Graphic Card and Network drivers, all others I personally would be hesitant to upgrade unless they fixed an issue.

    Ok. Thanks to all. So, and please be gentle, at the risk of sounding like Bill Clinton (and every other politician), 'it depends on what your definition of "ok" - is'. This old PC has pretty much run "ok" (for the most part, I suppose) since we got it six years ago - except when it hasn't ... (run at all). The Truth is I maybe attempting to "maintain" my machines TOO much (frequent, almost daily cleaning and using tools within CCleaner and frequent (no less than once a week) running a Defrag.

    My PC performance seems always to be in a state of flux" ("waxing & waning") I have always assumed that that is True for all or most of us (?). Fortunately, I think that I have finally "grown-up" (LEARNED! - mostly via this site) just enough to know not to try to make too many "changes" (fixes/"repairs"/adjustments) at any one time ... in other words, I am learning SOME patience (or just plain wearing myself out! - though STILL needing to learn to keep a journal or log of everything that is done - per Mark T's suggestion of six or nine months ago!).

    When you say "Network" card, that is also know as a "Network Interface Card" or "NIC" - correct? (in the case of this PC: Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC?

    As for the "Graphics" card on this PC, I believe it's the "stock" card that came with the machine (made by Intel), but to be certain, would that be: Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller?

    Thanks again ...
