dual boot system

was drive (c) ME w/fat32 and drive (d) xp pro w/ntfs. yesterday i clean installed xp pro on (C) and converted to ntfs. all is well except i don't know how to boot into (D) now. I would like to clean up (D) either by uninstalling progs or can i wipe it w/Eraser? i don't need D drives progs or os anymore. any advice would be appreciated.

 

When you start the PC, before the OS loads, you will have a key to press to give you the boot menu. On mine it's F8. This loads a menu from which you can pick your drive.

 

you can also just format the drive if there is nothing you need on it. Remember though Formatting will erase all data on the drive being formated.

 

thanks for the replies, i tried f8 and that just gets me to the safemode etc screen , i'll try fiddling w/that screen to see if a choice allows me which drive to boot into. is fdsk the prog to format it? i'll check microsoft site. don't need data from d drive just want to make sure that i didn't do something foolish. thanks again

 

format is the command for formatting. fdisk is the partition utility to create/delete partitions

 

So ya now have xp on two separate partitions?
Boot to the one you can, then, control pannel/system/advanced tab, then start up and recovery,click on settings.

Or

To just whipe other OS reformat, go to control pannel/Administrative tools/computer management/ on left click on Disk management/ then top middle of page is volumes like (c), disk1 vol2 (D), etc
just right click on the one of your choice, click on format!
