I currently have a P4/2GHz system. I want to setup up a dual boot with XP and FreeBSD. I know I need to set it up on 2 different partitions, this is not a problem. I have been told I need to create a third partition as a boot partition. What file system do I need to use to formatt all three partitions with. Obviously the XP partition should be NTFS. What about the other 2, and is there a specific order these partitions need to be setup in. Thanks in advance.

Hah! Got you stumped. Didn't think that could happen here. Oh well.

FreeBSD setup goes through this with you., use the defaults.

Didn't stump us one bit, we just don't live on the board.

I was only kidding. Thanks for the input. I didn't want to mess up on the install and have to keep trying it over and over. Thanks for the help again.

IMO, FreeBSD is the least risky of *nix Oses to install.

Just make sure you don't overwrite the Windows partitions.

Its been a while since I did it, but it was pretty straightforward. Go with the default filesystems.

I appreciate the input. I was told to give FreeBSD a try since I am trying to learn Unix alittle bit. Reading through some of the other posts I may also want to try a Linux OS for ease of use to get started. Again, thanks for all of the help.
