dual boot xp and xp

ok i would like to dual boot xp and xp one for work and for home use for everyone else and the other just bare bones so i can play games with out all that other stuff eating up my resources.

any help would be great thx

 

Never set one up like that, but I would think you would just need to partition the hard drive and install xp on the other partition. When the computer starts, you should, if I am not mistaken get a screen asking which version of xp you want to boot. Or alternatively, set windows up on 2 hard drives, and change the boot sequence in the BIOS.

I run multi boot systems
I prefer using one HDD
Set up one partition for each OS, An OS needs to be installed on a Primary Partition, any one HDD can have up to 4 Primary Partitions.

The PC I'm on now has three OSes two XP pro & X64 installed on a single 320GB SATA HDD, with 4 primary Partitions, each OS is on 50GB partition then the remaining 150 gb or so is for storage. (Partition size is Personal Preferance or based on user's needs)

You can choose which OS to boot manually or by default & even rename the Boot Loader ( rename is nice for OS management) This is done within Windows in System Properties/Advanced/Startup & Recovery
By default when you boot for the first time after Loading your second OS you will have On screen, an option to choose either OS to boot from, you will have 30 seconds to choose ( selection is made with the up or down arrow key on your Keyboard) after 30 seconds your PC will boot to the last OS loaded ( unless you change the Boot loader this On screen option will remain every time you boot)

When Multi Booting with Different version's of Windows Always load the oldest Version first on the first partiton
