Hey, I'm an avid gamer but pretty inexperienced when it comes to building PC's!

The problem ive got is regarding my RAM, I have two blue slots and two white slots on my motherboard, and i have 2x 2gb dual channel 800mhz RAM, but Vista 64 will only recognize the 4gb RAM in one blue and one white slot. If i try both sticks in blue slots, its only shows as 2gb.

I was wondering what i need to do to use dual-channel properly? Do i need to change BIOS settings? Or is it already working properly?!

    Cheers for any help, Alex

    Asus p5n32-e SLI plus
    Geil 2x 2GB 800mHz PC6400 Dual channel Black Dragon

I'm thinking that one of the blue slots might be wonky. I don't know if this will work, for you , but I'd try booting with 1 stick of ram in a blue slot. If that boots OK, try it in the other slot, to see if that'll boot. If you are lucky it might be just a 'seating' problem.:)

One stick should be in the blue slot, and one in the white for dual channel on your board.

I don't care for Asus's website, I downloaded your maunual, but can't link to it. But one in blue, one in white, and you should be in dual channel mode...

Now get that quad core running FAH!:D

    I love my 6600...:drool

    Excellent, cheers guys.

On another note, what is the easiest way to overclock my processor? Bearing in mind I want to push it a little bit, but not test its limits.

I see my BIOS has the Asus AI overclocking tool, is it any good? Or is it better to do it manually? I've never done it before, so the tool would be a lot easier! (and yes i've got excellent cooling)

    Good work that man!

My core temp runs at 28C standard and 39C under Crysis Very High after 2 hours.

My cooler is Thermaltake Blue Orb 2. Reckon that'll be sufficient for OC'ing?

    Thanks for all you help

Temps look pretty good! I would use Prime95 to get a good load temp reading though.

    Have fun!:D
