    Hi

I'm new to this forum and I'm not sure if this is the place to post. but here goes:

I've recently changed to broadband: btinternet.com (which involves Yahoo and the Yahoo browser). Because I don't like their browser I still use standard IE.

Ever since my IE has been unstable, hanging up often (not responding). Worst, each time I switch on I get a system not responding message about "duiborm.exe". I'm invited to report the error to Microsoft.

This started happening after 1 time when I had to task manager halt a mysterious process that was top of the list and seemd to be causing the hang-up.

I've no idea what this is. I've scoured the Web, my registry, pc - everything but cannot find any mention of it.

    Anyone got any ideas.

    TIA

    Turloch

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

I'm not sureif you are having malware problems or not. The only way to really be sure is for you to continue on to the below steps.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
      • Bitdefender
      • Panda Scan
      • HijackThis
    .

    Hi Chaslang

Thanks very much for the reply. Since wriing I've been experimenting with and using various anti-spy, anti-virus and firewall packages, some as recommended on this site.

I had a load of faffing and system hang-ups during the process but I seem to have got rid of the problem, and everything seems pretty stable now.

Your kind advice is useful to "cut out and keep" for future problems.

    Cheers

    Terry
