dumb question?

    Why are "we" worried about oxidation on things "we" send to space?
    is it a storage thing?

    This is just a guess, but with what it costs to send some thing into space, it
    has to be as close to perfect as possible. No AAA roadside assestance available yet.

    I'll hazard a guess and say that oxidised material is a contaminant which cannot be accuratly compensated for. Like, if you have bits flaking off your spaceship, you can't accuratley navigate it. Only a guess though ;)
