    I just realized that i asked this question before in the wrong forum. Im sorry!! My question is --- If I open the case on my Dell Demension 4700, to clear the dust , Will I void the five year in home warranty? I had to have the harddrive replaced already [no laughing please ] and there seems to be a plastic insert to be broken to open it now!

    ironhead;

    call the dell support and ask em u be paying em for the warranty.

    I think u do open it on ur own and they gonna say out of warranty,

    but best to ask.

    If there is a seal on the case, it might be a problem but I have never seen a Dell with a seal on it. It's pretty common to need to open the case to blow it out or to add RAM or upgrade the processor etc. It shouldn't be a problem with the warrantee but if your nervous about it call them and ask. If they say it's OK, be sure to get the Dell reps name and note the date and time of the call.

    Thank you for your answer. I think the person who came to my home and replaced the harddrive put that plastic clip in the slot which I now have to break. I will call Dell as you suggested. Just get a little jumpy bout giving them any reason to claim I voided my extended in home warranty.
