My CD and DVD drives are not working. Checked them in device manager and they are both "yellow ! ". It says the drivers were successfully loaded, but the hardware devices are not found.

I tried uninstalling them, then re-booting. "new hardware" notice popped up for both, then nothing else. They still show up in device manager as "yellow !". Same problem.

Their doors both open and close, but nothing else. They do not show up in "my computer".

    Running win XP sp2 home.

Only recent change was fiddling with my wireless network, resolving problems with a different puter than this one, and also recently installed TuneUp as recommended here and have been using it to clean up and optimize, etc. Haven't done anything else that i can think of.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks, as always.

Check your bios and make sure it's detecting your drives. ;)
