DVD authoring software

Good day Geeks, running SP Home SP3, and I have some frustrations with the behemoth dvd creation suites. I've been using Nero 9 and for a while have been dealing with tech support on a problem with Nero Vision which they can't fix, their last solution was for me to uninstall and install the new version 10 and of course pay for it to solve my problem, although they couldn't guarantee that would work either. So I decided instead to try Roxio Creator and found a good deal on version 9. Seems to work but I have one issue. Immediately after restarting I began getting the Windows error reporting pop-up indicating a problem with a file called indivDRM (there is both an .exe and .dll file with that name). This pop-up spawned about every 5-10 seconds exactly on top of the preceding pop-up so if you weren't aware, in a minute you could have 10-12 open windows. This is not a new problem, but the only fix I can find is to disable the CinePlayer Service, which probably disables the CinePlayer. Roxio forums indicate that Roxio hasn't been able to fix this yet.

Q1. Any ideas on a permanent fix? I prefer another player anyway and I don't download Netflx, and I seldom play a DVD on my computer. So why would I need these files?

Q2. Bigger issue, I hate these very large do everything for everyone suites. All I want is to be able to burn various files types to dvd, build a photo slide show with audio track and I use an external audio program so I don't use the audio mixing component, and burn to disc or file. I prefer the label making that came with my Epson printer. I can burn an audio cd from WMP. I don't recode dvd for digital backup. I don't need internal video players. I use other back up and disaster recovery apps. What is out there that is simple, clean, small, and free would be nice, that only builds and burns dvd's and really works great at what it does?
