I'm running a Dell Dimension 4600 with an NEC DVD+RW ND -2100AD drive. I'm having issues with burning to DVD using the Sonic Record Now software that came pre-installed.

When I try to launch the Sonic software it comes up with the message "No compatible recordable or rewritable devices could be found on your system".

I've tried to re-install the Sonic software with the cd-rom provided but to no avail, apparently there is a critical file missing. I recently did the version 7 upgrade but the problem is still there.

I've also tried to update the hardware driver just in case, windows tells there isn't a more recent driver to install. I recently did the firmware upgrade from NEC so all should be up to date here as well.

I recently did the XP sp2 upgrade along with an iTunes update, after the sp2 upgrade my DVD drive would not respond and was not showing on "my computer", eventually I worked out that I needed to delete the upper and lower filters in the Reg Editor for the drive to re-appear.

I can't help but think that this has caused the issues with the Sonic software as I was previously able to burn to DVD/CD's prior to the sp2 upgrade and iTunes update.

I'm getting frustrated as you can imaginge, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    DGR.
