    Hello,

Let me first apologize because I'm sure this will sound really stupid, but I'm new at downloading/burning movies. I'm using Windows Media Edition to burn downloaded movies from my hard drive to DVD. Before the burning process (after I have selected the movie to burn), I get a message from Windows saying "you have selected more content than will fit on the CD/DVD. Would you like to lower the quality of the content so that it fits?" I always select "YES". When it does work, the quality has been excellent. However, most of the time it will take several hours, stop at 30 to 35 percent, and hang there forever.

On the other hand, I use a software program called DVD Santa which will decode the content and burn the DVD. This process usually takes a couple hours. However, there is usually quality lost in the transfer. Sound will not match, picture jumps, etc.

I'm running Win XP Media, Pentium 4 / 3.0 GHz, 1 GB RAM

I guess what I'm asking is could anyone recommend a decent software program that will decode (transfer?) the data and successfully burn the movie without a loss of quality, and without having to wait an entire day to burn the disc?? I don't mind paying good money for a nice program. Or is there something I am doing wrong with Windows Media? Any other ideas?

Again, I apologize for the novel and lack of knowledge, but this one is really buggin' me. http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/confused.gif

You guys have saved the day for me many times, and now it's time to turn to the pros again. http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

    Thanks in advance,

    Al

I agree! I use NERO 6.6. It is the only program i have burned dvds with so i couldnt tell you its the best, but that it does work. You can also overburn if the movie image is to big. I know people that use dvd-shrink and it works great.
