Looking for thoughts on DVD burning...

As I see it right now, DVDs come on dual layer discs, and blank media come single layer, so to burn a DVD, you need to do a split disc and burn onto two discs instead of one. This is how I do it now anyway. Works, but not ideal as you need to get up in the middle of a movie to change discs.

The other option is to create an iso image on the HDD of the complete DVD, and play it back through the computer, but that's not as much fun as having it in my theater system.

So the question is, does anyone know of a way to squeeze a whole DVD onto one disc? Specifically I'm curious if there's a way to reduce the quality (and hence the size) enough to get it onto single disc while still keeping the menus and extra features in tact. I'd be curious to see how poor the quality would actually be in this scenario.

And while I'm at it, anyone know some good software for burning DivX to a DVD?

    Cheers.

I'll give that a try tonight and see how it goes.

    Cheers.
