dvd burning troubles

Hi all, Ok I have some gameplay trailers which i dowloaded in .avi (divx) format, and want to burn for a friend as he has no internet connection. I normally convert and burn the files to dvd format with convertxtodvd which will work in my dvd player but will not work in his.
So I tried converting it with convertxtodvd and burning it with nero as a dvd movie . That worked fine in his dvd player but not mine.. What is the best software to burn movies that is compatible with most dvd players? Or is it not the softwares problem?

If you have nero you may have nero vision installed with it, nero vision is simple, quick, and lets you make customized menu's etc.

Are you encoding and burning to NTSC or PAL? And does your player play both and his not maybe?

I know this is kind of an old thing to look at, but, check the players to be sure they can read both + and - dvdr's I have encountered this problem before on numurous occasions.

One of the players is just a samsung dvd player that also plays divx without troubles and my friends one is a ps3.. I use lg dvd-r and do it as PAL as i am in australia.

I will try some other programs, such as 1 click dvd copy and the 2 noted earlier..

 

Ok i have tried devede and dvdflick but they both just keep freezing half way thru the conversion... I figured it would be a problem with windows 7.. and 1 click dvd copy failed burning for me as well... What other good dvd authoring programs are there that work on windows 7?.

I use to use tmpgenc but authoring works 4 does not want to work on windows 7....
