dvd/cd rom trouble

i have a lite-on dvdrw ldw-891s dvd/cd burner.im running xp pro.for the last week or so,i cannot burn dvds at all.its stays stuck at zero percent when i attempt to burn it.cds will appear to burn corrrectly but when i attempt to play it windows says disc corrupt.interstingly,it will burn vcd's fine.i have tried different mediums,even different burning software,but the problem remains.can anyone shed any light on what's going on or help me with this please?thanks in advance.
