    Hi

The dvd drive on my MSI laptop (CX61) doesn't seem to be functioning properly. On the "my computer" window the drive icon is missing. I'm running win7

    Device manager shows

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

I tried uninstalling the drivers and restarted hoping to fix the error and even tried to locate the driver online on the MSI support site. I also tried updating the driver and troubleshooting . No luck

I can't even plug in an external drive because it doesn't get recognized. Unfortunately my last good backup was over one year ago.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

Fixed my own problem. Guess I should have researched first before starting this thread.
