Every time i restart PC my DVD drive is missing. I am using Vista so when i go to Computer it only shows Local Disk(C) & HP Recovery (D). I go to Contol Panel/System/Device manager but no DVD/CD-ROM drives. I right-click Disk Drives/Scan for hardware changes & DVD/CD-ROM drives shows up.

I did the unistall then restart computer but when i go back to Computer still NO DVD DRIVE.

I dont wanna have to do this every time i reboot ANY HELP??

So, the Device Manager shows nothing listed under CD/DVD drives? No exclamation points ! or red Xs anywhere? If so, then this means that either the drive is not connected to the motherboard correctly (or the data cable is bad), or the drive is not getting power (or the power connection is bad; if the drive opens when you push the button, then it's getting power), or the BIOS has been configured with the CD/DVD disabled (check the system BIOS upon powering up; if the drive is listed, then we know the problem is Windows based, and not hardware based). So, check out these things I've mentioned and let us know what you find.
    :-D

EDIT- I just re-read your thread - I missed a big part the first time :-o Check out this link and try the tip posted there, and also try downloading and installing the chipset driver for your system....
