dvd playback jumpy on sound and audio

i am having some problems with playing dvds on my pc ,I have tried different players (sonic & dsplayer) and also upgrading to 256mb ram from 128mb as well as a new 32 mb vidio card and still have the same problem.
computer specs are: win 98se
256mb sdram
32mb video card(raydon)
500mhz proceser
100mhz fsb
148mhz gpu

any sugestions would be greatly apreshated

What kind of video card is it? PCI? AGP? Geforce? ATI?
What kind of DVD burner do you have?
type of soundcard?

 

vidio card is pci and sound is onboard
no burner just player

 

Have you tried multiple DVDs or just one?

 

yes factory fresh and burned both do the same jumping on sound and video

 

Might be a hardware problem, but have you tried updating your firmware for your player?

 

all new codecs were downloaded and instaled

 

Codecs are not what I meant. I meant updating your hardware, what brand is your player?

 

its an iomega cd-rw dvd rom

Look here for your brand and find if any updates are needed
