Hi, I downloaded several youtube videos and then used the software "any video converter" right here at MG to encode them to NTSC MPEG2 and then burned them to a dvd -r disk using nero and they play great on my home unit dvd player. My friend did the same thing but the disks won't play on his home dvd player. We think he has to encode the flv files using a different format that his home dvd play is compatible with. If that doesn't work he wants to buy a new home dvd player since it's just a $30 cheapie. What should he look for in purchasing a new home dvd player. I thought that it should support Divx but I'm not sure. thanks.:)

It could be that his DVD player is set to only play NTSC discs, and yours are PAL (or vice versa). In any case, I bought a brand new Philips DVP3140 for $33 at BestBuy and it plays everything including DivX/XVid....
