DVD Recorder has no tuner?

Hi,

Thanks for any help. I was given a DVD/VCR recorder for a Christmas gift. Samsung DVD-VR375 I found out last night it does not have a tuner. I have cable but not a cable box. Does this mean that I will not be able to record with it or is there away to hook it up without having a cable box to record TV shows?

I tried recording with it last night with the TV on and at play back all it said across the screen was No signal. I have watched movies with this player but this is the first have tried recording with it.

From what I have researched, you must have a tuner. You can buy an external tuner.

read your instructions again for the first time. I had a big problem with the redundancies of this unit. If you are just using for tapes to disc you need to insert disc it will 'format' when done send in the tape it starts works great . This unit must be set up - Dish right at the main box won't work on the secondary(ies) So I would believe that you must do this at the incoming cable box if no box you might need a tuner. read the instructions Samsung put a bunch of cables in there. One would hope someone @ Samsung had their head and backside wired together.

Other than the quirks I am very impressed with this unit.
