Dvd +RW disc writing problem

    I have a NEC 6500 RW dvd writer and have not had any problems burning -R and
    +R discs with Nero. But, as soon as i tried a +RW disc it did't do anything. It doesn't even format it. Am i doing something wrong or do i need some kind of software to be able to write rw's? Please help.
