DVD Flick does not convert or shrink DVDs plus DVD Decrypter has not been supported or updated for years. It can't handle some of the new protection schemes. While DVD Shrink still does a great job at putting a DVD movie on a DVD-5, it hasn't been updated to handle new copy protection schemes either.

DVDFab HD Decrypter will rip a DVD disc, also removing the protections and restrictions, to your PC for free. You can then open the saved DVD folder in DVD Shrink and let it do it's thing. It also has 30 day trials for all their other products but the basic DVD ripping function doesn't expire.

    Check your facts.
DVDFlick absolutely converts and shrinks. I just used it for 2 .avi files and it works perfectly.
I had been using Dvdvideosoft to convert and then Dvd Shrink, but this is easier.

It will not shrink a DVD-9(8.5GB) to a DVD-5(4.7GB) disc, which is what turnwright is trying to do. He does not want to convert the DVD to an AVI. He just wants to take a DVD Video disc and compress it to fit on a single layer DVD. Converting the movie to a different format only to burn it back onto a DVD disc is a waste of both time and quality.

I didn't say to convert a dvd to avi.
I said that I converted an avi to dvd and it shrunk it to fit on a single layer dvd.
I also used it to convert an mkv file and it converted it to dvd and shrunk it.
I don't know what kind of a file he is trying to convert, but I have had no problems with many different formats.

Turnright used DVD Decrypter. It's in his first post. DVD Decrypter is a DVD Video disc backup tool. It will not produce any file compatible with DVD Flick.

Since the OP has not returned yet to answer the question of file type then we are all throwing suggestions. Let's wait and see if the OP returns.

Personally, I've had problems with DVDFlick converting .mkv files.

DVDFab (the paid for software) can convert/modify a DVD9 to a DVD5 format.

Try re-ripping the file using Dvdflick.
Click "add title", go to the file and click "start"

I'm not sure whats up with dvd flick. When i click "add title" and get to the video window it says at the bottom "all supported types" and there are no files showing. If i click on *.* then it shows me video ts files, video ts.buf files and vts files. When I click on the video ts file and try to open it it brings up a window that says that it is not supported or corrupted. I figured that it wasnt corrupted since it plays just fine on my computer. Whatcha think and thanks for your help.
