DVD Software:

I have a DVD in my PC. If I put a DVD in it, I get the same screen as any other disc showing files. Is there a software I can download to be able to watch DVD's on the PC? Thanks.

On this page ( http://home.earthlink.net/~cresho/vd.htm )is the Freecodecinstaller. With it you can watch DVD with Windows Media Player and/or Zoom Player ( http://www.majorgeeks.com/Zoom_Player_Standard_d413.html )

 

Yes i have used it before, now i use PowerDVD. But when i did have it, and i put the DVD into the drive and closed it. A window popped up giving me different options on whether to play the DVD in WMP, or VLC. Then i would just click VLC and it would open. Explain what is happening after you put in the DVD.

 

When I put teh DVD in and close the door. A window pops up called G:\ and shows a folder labled VIDEO_TS

 

Never has happened before, I will research it, in the meantime, If you have windows media player, try using what Just Playing put up..with the Freecodecinstaller. Maybe somebody else knows the answer also.

 

It's probably how the DVD was burnt.

 

That is probably it MCD4x4, I looked around and could not find anything. Plus Insomniac would know more about it than me.

 

Is it a homebrew DVD or a commercial one? The Video_TS is the file where the movie is stored and typically there is an empty Audio_TS folder also, placed on the disc for compatibility with older DVD players. Did you open it up with VLC or any other of the players? Also, check the properties of the drive. Under the autoplay tab, set the drive to open DVD movies with your player when the disc is inserted. I suspect that it is set to open the DVD movie with Explorer instead.

 

Is there a BEST DVD player software? I tried a few but nVidias that ya gotta by seemed to give me the best visuals quality out of the few I tried.

 

Media Player Classic if you have the correct codecs.

A lot of it is down to user preference rather than visual quality.
