    Hi folks,

Is it illegal to make copies of store bought dvd's for personal use? I have no intention of giving or selling them, I don't have room on my HD, but DVD's are such cheap junk I don't like seeing them get scratched up seemingly by the very air. Also, I am not sure if making a dvd to dvd copying is called copying, or burning. I'm unfamiliar with the jargon. Perhaps a site that lays it all out would help if it's too simple to explain.

Also, I suppose an appropriate free program would be desirable. Thank you all very much in advance.

The free version of Alcohol 52% is all you need. It creates up to five virtual CD/DVD drives which can be used just as you use a physical drive. It is up to you to observe any copyright restrictions.
