Hi there. I have a Dell Inspiron 5100 notebook running Windows XP. It originally came with a cd-rw drive. My friend bought the same exact computer with the same specs around the time that I bought mine, except he got a cd-rw/dvd-rom combo drive. He recently purchased a new computer, and said that I could have the old drive. I put in the cd-rw/dvd-rom combo, downloaded the drivers from Dell's website, and installed the "Inter-Video WinDVD" disc that came with my friends computer.

I have tried playing several DVD's however, and they all "lag". Im sure there is the wrong word for it, but it's a lot like video game lag. The music and picture doesn't sync up, the picture is choppy at time, etc.

I've tried playing the dvd in the inter-video player as well as Windows Media and I get the same result. Is there a reason for this; anyone have any advice? It would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance :)
