DVD Wont Play Because Of Copyright Protection

My DVDs will play (in WMP or Real Player) for about 10 to 20 minutes and then stop because of "digital copyright protection" or because "copyright protection failed". The DVD will play in Real Player Classic, BUT the video will skip and stall.
The video is much cleaner in Real Player and WMP.

This is a rather recent phenomenon. What do I need to do remedy this?
I am broke and not willing to spend cash on something that was working just fine
2-3 months ago. I installed a new CD-R a month ago, but I don't see how that would effect my DVD-ROM drive.

Also, it doesnt matter if I reboot or disconnect from the internet...sometimes it doesnt work at all and other times it will play a DVD for 20 minutes than stop and the error message will pop up.

I want to play my DVD's in Real Player and have NO MONEY WHATSOEVER to buy new DVD player software etc...

What DVD decoder are you using?

PowerDVD. I have the K-Lite Codec Pack installed as well.

Yes.

A couple options. Make sure the region has been set in PowerDVD settings. If that doesn't work, try reinstalling PowerDVD.

 

Also, go to start, run, and type

dvdupgrd /detect

See what decoder is being used. I'm not familiar with the codec pack.

 

Did not pay for PowerDVD. It came pre-packaged with computer.

Did the start-run thing:
NeVideo.ax

is what came back.

 

NeVideo.ax is a nero codec. Wonder if that has to do with the codec pack.

Uninstall it and see if its still used.

 

If I uninstall Nero, I won't be able to burn CD's using Nero.

How do I JUST UNinstall the codec? Can you give me step by step instructions??

Also...if I unistall the codec, will it interfere with my Nero burning capabilities?

Why would I uninstall the K-Lite Codec pack when it's the Nero codec that's giving me the problem??

Plus...I haven't had copyright protection issues with either codec. Those codecs have been installed on my pc for years.

Do you know that K-lite is a colelction of other people's codecs? A collection, some ripped out of other programs. I've never heard of Nero Burning Rom itself having DVD decoding capabilities (someone else pipe up if they have).

Give me something to work with here. You can't reinstall Nero. You can't reinstall PowerDVD. You don't want to try uninstalling the k-lite codec pack.

Whats left to try?

The copyright protection notice showing up like this is almost always a damaged or misconfigured codec.

Sooner or later, software breaks. Thats a given.

I really don't understand the resistance to suggestions.

How does a codec become "damaged" or "misconfigured".
I am uninstalling K-Lite Codec Pack right now. I believe I am only able to get
the video portion of my DVDs when I don't have K-Lite installed.
We'll see...
Is DiVX related to the playing of DVDs??
