I recently downloaded DVDFab 6105 Beta. I tried to make a backup of the movie "Imagine That". It analyzed the DVD and copied it. When the DVD popped out, I put in a blank Disk and it wouldn't burn. I tried several disks and several versions of DVDFab. I've never had a problem before. Any suggestions?
    Thank You! Doug

Have you tried saving the file to your hard drive first, and then copying it to disk? That may help. All you have to do is change the Target to a folder on your hard drive, save it there, and then choose the "Write Data" option after it is finished.

Also, it's a good idea to use ImgBurn as your burning software if you are not already doing so because I've heard it's the most compatible with it, and I've never had a problem when using both of them together.

If you still have issues you can always try using their forums. They have some pretty good people who know a lot about the software there that can help.

    Good luck!

What exactly do you mean by "it wouldn't burn"? Do you get any errors? Or does it appear to burn but the disc comes out blank or won't play? Personally, I don't use DVDfab to burn. I use it only to rip, and I use the "Main Movie" option so I can put it on a standard DVD. The full disc rips generally require dual layer DVD blanks. As Chucky stated above, you can rip the movie to a folder on your hard drive, then use a different program to burn. I use ye olde Nero 6. For freeware, ImgBurn as suggested is good, and I really like the free version of AShampoo Burning Studio 6. It requires free email registration, but it has lots of features including a 'DVD Movie' option where you'd point it to the folder containing the ripped movie and burn from there....

(I rarely use DVDfab anymore - my home DVD player also plays DiVX/XViD files, so I usually rip my movies directly to AVI files; I can fit up to 6 or 7 movies on a standard DVD)

Hmmm.... odd.... if DVDfab rips the DVD to a folder on your hard drive, you should be able to burn it with anything. Strange. I have used Free DVD Decrypter and the old-school DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 in the past with great results. They copy the full DVD to a folder on your hard drive and remove all the protection so you can back up your personal DVD collection. They are light on features, and a bit slow, but free and have worked just about every time. However, most full movies require a dual layer DVD (very expensive) so you'll want to just rip the main movie (like DVDfab has). I'm pretty sure you can use ShrinkTo5 to 'shrink' the full movie to a size that will fit on a standard DVD, but I've only used it a few times for movies that were just a bit over 4.5gb (one std DVD). Here's two other DVD rippers, but I haven't personally used 'em: DVDshrink (has a HUGE following- tons of info availble online) and DVD43 which runs in the background with your burning software (like Nero for example). You might want to consider a home DVD player that supports DiVX playback (here's one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882641285 - I have the Philips DVP3140 and it is excellent, bought it new for $34.99 at BestBuy about 18 months ago). Ripping your DVD collection to DivX (or XViD which is 100% compatible with DiVX) is the way to go. You can rip a full DVD movie (w/o features and options and languages) to a single DiVX/XViD file, and you can fit at least 3 or 4 movies on a single standard DVD5 (4.5gb), up to 7 on a single DVD if you edit out the ending credits. And ripping to a DiVX file takes about the same amount time (maybe less). There are many free DVD-2-DIVX rippers, here's three: WinX DVD Ripper and Free-DVD-Ripper and BitRipper; I've used the first one; it's great! I hope all this helps a bit.... GOOD LUCK!

EDIT- a bit of research provided Fair Use Wizard (direct download link). This also rips directly to DiVX (according to the description), but, again, this is something I have not personally used, and it's the last free version of a now paid program, and the free version is older and (like DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0) is no longer in development and may not be successful with current discs due to updated protection schemes....

EDIT #2 - the link above to "Free-DVD-Ripper" is not working right (at least for me :confused)..... click HERE for a direct download.

:-o OK- this is getting ridiculous. It seems the direct link for Fair Use Wizard that I posted above is not working either. :cry.... Try this link instead....
