I just purchased a new widescreen LCD monitor with DVI input, it's a HP W1907 19". Although it didn't come with a DVI cable, and was curious if it was worth the money getting one. How much of a difference in picture is there between the two as far as playing video files and DVDs on my PC? Also, which of the following, if any, could my monitor be used with to get a 720p HD picture?

    X-Box 360
    HD DVD/Blu-ray player
HD DVD-ROM (when they become affordable)
    HD TV service

a DVI cable is definetly worth it, because they are very cheap and allow for a much better picture overall. As far as a 720p picture, assuming your monitor has the newly popular widescreen resolution of 1440x900 (as is the limit on most 19" WS), you can get it with all that you listed, if properly set up.

HDTV would require an HDTV tuner or cable box to output the 720p signal.

Here is an example of how cheap DVI cables are, keep in mind most users wont need a 6ft cable, usually monitors are paired with 3ft cables. http://svideo.com/dvicable.html
