    Hello,

i've been trying to find out if there is a way to connect my monitor so that it has an end result of a composite connection (yellow white and red wires). What i am trying to do is have my monitor as a slave monitor in a car, connected to a Double Din DVD/TV, which requires a composite rca cable. I know this is possible with regular TV's, as ive seen it in person, but i want to put in a monitor instead.

I was thinking of something along the lines of connecting the monitor to a F/F VGA or DVI adapter (depending on the monitor wire), then to a VGA/DVI (To RCA composite adapter).

would this be a possible connection? or would it not send the image through?

thanks in advance for the help.

The first thing to consider/check is the max. resolution the in-dash screen can display.

To get an idea on image quality, start your PC in Safe Mode (press "F8" repeatedly when you turn it on, then choose "Safe Mode With Networking". In Safe Mode, your PC screen displays video at a minimal 640x480 resolution. If the in-dash monitor's max. res. is under this, forget it; the display quality will be almost unreadable. At 640x480, it may be bearable for basic tasks. Most low-end PCs connected to a LCD/LED monitor are at least 1024x768 res. in normal Windows Mode (higher for gaming and HD video setups).

Unless both the PC and in-dash unit the in-dash unit have either HDMI or component (3 RCA Video/2 RCA Audio) connections, you won't be able to get true normal screen quality. Using a composite (yellow video) connection the display res. on the in-dash unit will drop below 640x480, resulting in very poor text display.

If you need to use a PC while in the car, I'd go for a small netbook (about $300) and/or a notebook PC stand that mounts on or near the center console (similar to the ones in police cars).

hmm i see what youre saying, so it is possible then. the only thing is though that i am not using a PC in the car just the monitor to display the image from the double din dvd / stereo. The resolution issue i will look up and see what the resolution is on the in dash, i dont think itll be that big of a problem though as i will just be using it to display music videos. Thanks for the input , appreciate it :)

Edit : i found out that the resolution the indash displays at is : 480 x 234

Posting a new issue I have. I connected everything. And bought two different types of cables one that splits to yellow composite and the other has the white and red cable abd yellow. But with one all tvs work except the monitor. With the other cable all tvs don't get a signal. Any help with this? Might it be the wires?

okay got an update on the topic, i was able to fix the problem by getting a RCA to VGA converter box online, seems the other cables were just adapters and all that i needed was to convert the main signal to VGA. thanks again for the help and the thread can now be closed. ^^
