I already submitted this to Halo's private message but I am following the instructions he left me in the chat. Ok, so I explained my problem with my E:drive. It is not working. Could speedupmypc have something to do with that? D: is my zip drive and E: is my cdRom.

Hi Rhonda, Welcome to Major Geeks.

I am not privvy to Halo's private messages but I expect he suggested you post your problem, along with some basic information about your system.

In what way does your CD not work/ Sound? Reading CDs? CDRWs? Has it just stopped working? Since you name it as your E drive can you see it in my computer/explorer ? Have you installed any new software/hardware?

About your system, what sort of pc (laptop?) and operating system. If the drive is an RW then what software do you use to write cds?

I just figured out that you answered me. In the way my cd does not work is: I wanted to do something on a "picture" cd to make some business cards and when I put in the disk nothing happened. Then I wanted to re-install my printer information (just to test the drive) and again nothing worked. The drive is just dead. So I guess you can say it is not "reading cd's." Yes it is listed in "My Computer" and yes I downloaded speedupmypc in January. I have used my printmaster cd for a while so could the speedupmypc have taken something off? I am trying to get my money back and go back to the MG's CC cleaner. Lastly I have just a regular pc with windows xp. No re-writable on this pc

    Re: "E" Drive Problem

If your CD drive is no longer working, do you still see it in "My Computer"?

You should power off the machine, open the case, and make sure that the power and data cables are securely connected to the CD drive as well as the motherboard. If it still does not work, you most likely have a dead drive. They are easily and cheaply replaced-- a new DVD burner (also reads and writes CD's) is under $50 :)

As for teh script error in Quicken, that could be any huge number of things and is purely software based. If you continue to get those errors, you may try reinstalling Quicken.

    Hi Rhonda
Running a loose cable check is good advice. Since you have been able to put CDs in and out it is presumably receiving power ok. Testing with another known CD was a good idea. If the drive has an audio output socket on the front can you try playing an audio cd to headphones? If it won't do that the drive is 'beyond economic repair ' as they say.
