I had major problems with Windows XP Professional, and decided to do a complete restore. The problem is that I used the wrong restore disk. I used a restore disk for a different e-machine computer. It did the restore, but now it just starts to boot up, then goes back to the prompt. Safe Mode, Normal Start Up, etc. I was lucky enough that I had an old hard drive that I was able to reconnect, and am currently using that. What I would like to do, is transfter the windows XP to the hard drive that I restored. My old hard drive only has 10 gb space and the one I tried to restore has 30 gb. What programs are available that will let me do that.

Can you restore an emachine that has a different model number, or do you have to use the exact same restore disk?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

If you want to clone it I would use Norton Ghost 2003, that is what I use. The other new version of it I don't really like plus I kinda got use to the one. Is fairly easy to use. What it basically does it clones your WinXP from your 10GB hard drive to your 30GB hard drive that you messed up and you don't have to reinstall windows cause your clowning everything in that one hard drive to the next. You will have to completely reformat the 30GB to do it though. Hope that helps!!!
