Earthlink Total Access 2005 will not open!

Here's the deal:
Got a new Dell computer and tried to open up my Earthlink file. Can't. Got a new Earthlink Total Access 2005 CD thinking that would help. After I loaded the software, and logged on to the Internet, again I received and error message: "Earthlink total access has encountered a problem and needs to close." The Error Signature reads: AppName & ModName--taskpanel.exe, Mod Ver--2005.2.118.0, Offset--0001fd72

I've called Earthlink FOUR times. No help. They say, "remove the program and re-install." Done that FOUR times. And yes, I have turned off all my firewalls, etc. (McAfee). It's the task panel that won't open.

Could something on my new computer not be programmed correctly? I did transfer my old files from my old computer. Could that have screwed it up?

Operating system is MS XP.
