Ei And Outlook Prob Pls Help

I am looking for some advice on a problem I am having

OUTLOOK: for the last few weeks it now takes aproximately 1min to load before it opens and then checks mail. Before it used to load in 2 seconds. The TITLE screen shows up and sits there for 1 full min. Anyway I can fix this?

EI: At the same time, EI fails to open a link that requires a new window. The new EI window opens, but never actually loads the page, like the url never got posted into the window. The url in the window is blank. If I copy/paste the URL into the same window that fails to open or a new window I opened it works fine. Though this is really anoyying as alot of links open there own seperate page and I really dont want to copy/paste every link I open.

Any clue into whats going one?

P.S. I had disabled system restore(DUH?!?!) so I cant go back anyway.

 

I don't know what version of IE you are running but this may help:

I would caution you about working with the registry. If you have not done it before, I would suggest you not attempt it as it can cause a lot of damage if you make a mistake. If you do attempt it, would suggest you back-up you registry.

You didn't specify Outlook or Outlook Express, but here are some MS articles for troubleshooting the Outlook prob:

There are programs on MG that will backup the registry files. Just go the Registry section of MG. You can access this either on the buttom of this page or at the www.majorgeeks.com main page on the left.

I would also recommend you pay a visit to www.windowsupdate.com

I tryed editing my message, but I guess there is a time limit?!?

Anyways, I did check windows update a couple days ago and there werent any updates, now today there is 5. But here goes another problem, the windows updates are not coming in, prob another registry prob. Is it still effective if I dload them 1 at a time from microsoft dloads section?

 

Outlook Prob Pls Help

I am using OUTLOOK EXPRESS 6 in XP PRO, the link for the troubleshooting 'outlook slow' didnt help. I did looking thru it and cant find anything related. Outlook works good except its just taking a long time to load for some reason. This started about the same time I had my EI problem, So I think its probably a registry thing.

I hope I can get more hints on how to solve this, and now SEVERLY learned my lesson and will start backing up my registry once I get this problem fixed.
